Mariah Carey insists the songs on her new album aren’t about her relationship with husband Nick Cannon.
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel — which contains slow songs and pop dance tracks that are about broken hearts and unhealthy relationships — is the the curvaceous superstar’s first album since she got hitched last year.
But Carey is adamant the tunes aren’t autobiographical.
“If they think [the songs reflect my life with Nick], they haven’t seen either one of us on an interview. And I doubt that!” the singer told MTV.
“I’m always writing things down. I’ve been doing that since I was 6 years old. [In Memoirs], I’m kind of looking at my life and going: ‘That was a stupid thing to do. Let me write about it.’ “I remember this: ‘Oh, I wrote about this, let me finish the song.’”
