Goofs, Trivia ,"Box office / business" for Precious

Goofs:

• During the scene where Mariah Carey's character attempts to bring together Precious and her mom Mary, you see the front of Mariah's pocketbook. A few minutes later, when the camera pans back and forth, you see the back of Mariah's pocketbook (the purse changes positions).

• Early in the movie when Precious is shown in her original high school, the teacher has written the word "REQUIRMENTS" in large print on the blackboard. The word is misspelled.

Trivia:

• Shot in only five weeks.

• Over 400 girls were interviewed from across the country for the part of Precious. Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe was cast a mere six weeks before the start of shooting after being forced to the audition by friends.

• Over the course of the shoot the production lost an editor, a cinematographer, three continuity people, three locations managers, two producers, two assistant directors, two sound people, two video playback people, and two caterers.

• Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe read the novel Push years before when her mother, singer Alice Tan Ridley, was approached to play the role of Mary in an earlier production that never came to fruition.
